day 11

um the whole deal with jacob making the sheep and goats mate in front of the stripes branches to produce striped/speckeled offspring seems kind of unlikely...aka i don't get it. i mean...put some striped branches in front of the water that the flocks drink and make sure they mate in front of it and they'll produce striped sheep/goats? reading that just made me think, "what the heck?"
Genesis 31:19 "When Laban had gone to shear his sheep, Rachel stole here father's household gods." what does that mean? more the second half of the sentence than the first...what are these "gods" that are mentioned? (they're mentioned later in as well)
also why must these people set up pillars or heaps of rocks whenever a covenant is made or God give them a vision or something of the sorts? is it like us signing a contract now in our day?

the firest sheep were all spotted and stuff, so it's probably genetics... or something of the sort.....
