Case for Christ

Yeah so, about Case for Christ (and this is for anyone who has read the book or is reading the book) im really confused about "the Q" part...like, everytime i open the book, i start there, and i get so confused that i slam the book shut and wait for tomorrow. that, or i keep reading but im not actually concentrating now, and i just give up...-_-

when i read the part about the Q, it was real confusing too. but this is what i got from it:
-the professor that is being interviewed does say that Q is a list of quotes
-that because mark was written first, its assumed that matthew and luke incorporated some of the information from mark into their gospel
-however, now all the gospels are identical; so some new information that appears in matthew or luke may have came from the imaginary source aka Q

Just a thought, since Mark was first written, how come the Feeding of the 4000 was omitted from Luke and John?
Also, didn't John write his with a partial testimony of Peter?
